Cold Call

Well it’s 5.20PM on Friday 1st November 2024 and the van is packed for the Friday Threat. [25th November below]. It’s also quite cold, and very cold for November. Been cold all day. A southerly bringing Southern Ocean influence has chilled the region. Overcast, and no sign of the sun at all.

Dinner is cooked and on the stove. I’ll document this precise moment, then set about having dinner after a little more packing, which will include putting away the computer. Then I think I’ll go straight to the rest area, off the highway, and prepare for staying the night there. I’m too tired after not sleeping last night, having woken knowing the Friday Threat would drive me out of the place at least for a few hours and it got me cranky as blazes in the middle of the night.

Main thing now is I don’t think I’ll make it to 9.30PM to do a drive by, and if the neighbours aren’t down then have to unpack tonight. Too tired.

Last Friday I spent in Canberra, and took some photos which I’ll add up on the blog sometime. So it the Friday Threat for last week hit while I was having eye treatment. It would have been good to be able to rest and recuperate in the place I’m paying for, but then I would have had to drive back and be in this precise situation I’m right now in. That is, having to leave the premises again in case they come down.

It’s so cold there’s a chance they won’t come down, but I can’t take the risk. I have to get out before they arrive, if they arrive, because the kid ‘manager’ could get a complaint from the neighbours that I make them feel bad by leaving when they get here. Stupid, but that’s this kid – who said I’d be kicked out if I upset the neighbours again. (I asked them “how long are you down for” politely, and they rang the kid ‘manager’ and complained. Yet it’s they who make the noise and I do nothing to them but get away and provide the solution. Talk about hillbilly operation.)

In any case, when I’m out of this kennel, or garden shed without the garden, the atmosphere is much lighter and more pleasant by a mile.

Waiting for the Friday Threat to potentially pass

Some of the Canberra photos taken when avoiding the Friday Threat and staying up there:

Photos from the weekend of 25th November, 2024. It would have been preferable and much more comfortable to come back to the kennel, or garden shed without the garden, otherwise known as a cabin, after laser surgery in one eye and a need injection into the eyeball of the other. But the kid ‘manager’ hasn’t made that easy or (for me under the circumstances) sensible. I keep paying money to his family for the place not to stay, however. Lovely, isn’t it.
